Climbing the Kukulcan Temple at Chichen Itza, Mexico, is no longer allowed. This ancient Mayan pyramid, also known as El Castillo, was closed to the public in 2006 due to concerns for preservation and safety.

However, before the ban, tourists were allowed to ascend the steep steps of this iconic structure.
The climb was challenging due to the steepness and the sometimes slippery conditions of the stone steps.
The decision to close the pyramid was met with mixed reactions.
Some people were disappointed that they could no longer experience the climb, while others understood the importance of preserving this historical monument for future generations.
Today, visitors to Chichen Itza can still admire the Kukulcan Temple from the ground, marveling at its impressive architecture and rich history.
