The present castle is not the initial structure to grace this strategic location. The preceding structure, situated on Sibrik Hill on the remains of a Roman fortress, succumbed to the devastating incursion of the Tartars. The current Bouzov Castle was established in the late 14th century and served as a guardian of the vital trade route between Olomouc and Lotice.

Throughout the centuries, the ownership of the castle underwent numerous changes of ownership, with notable families such as the Lords of Kuntát influencing its advancement. It also bears a connection to King George of Podbrady, a prominent figure in Czech history who was crowned in 1458.

The emergence of the 17th century.

In 1696, Bouzov Castle was acquired by the Order of Teutonic Knights, which marked a new chapter in its history. The castle underwent significant renovations and expansions under their stewardship, transforming it into a splendid residence that reflected the order’s power and prestige.
