The most prayed over bridge in Louisiana

The “most prayed over bridge in Louisiana” is often humorously referred to as the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. This causeway is one of the longest bridges in the world, extending nearly 24 miles (about 38.6 kilometers) across Lake Pontchartrain, connecting Metairie (a suburb of New Orleans) with Mandeville on the North Shore. Due to its length and the fact that it disappears into the horizon, driving across the causeway, especially in foggy or stormy conditions, can be a daunting experience for some. This has led to the bridge being jokingly called the most prayed over bridge, as travelers may find themselves seeking divine assistance for a safe journey across the vast expanse of water.
