The Flatow Tower (Flatowturm im Park Babelsberg)

The Flatow Tower (Flatowturm im Park Babelsberg) was built in Babelsberg Park between 1853 and 1856 by Emperor Wilhelm I of Prussia. The tower reaches a height of 46 meters.
The imperial couple used the tower as a guest residence and a place to present their collections. From the rooms, partly still preserved with the original interiors, you can enjoy a unique panorama: the surrounding park is in fact designed to be discovered in fragments and on different visual axes that widen like a fan as you go up. From the upper balcony, which surrounds the tower, a unique panoramic view opens up over the surrounding city and landscape.
The permanent exhibition provides information on the construction of the tower, the history of Babelsberg Park and the theme of the “View”, a fundamental aspect in the art of garden construction.
