SANGRIA 🇪🇸 OLÈ

Classic Sangria recipe to enjoy:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) of red wine (Spanish table wine works well)
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 lime, thinly sliced
  • 1 small apple, cored and cut into thin wedges
  • 2 cups of sparkling water or soda (optional, for a lighter version)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Wash and slice the orange, lemon, lime, and apple. Keep the peels on for extra flavor and color.
  2. Mix: In a large pitcher, combine the sliced fruits with the brandy, orange juice, and sugar. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add Wine: Pour the bottle of red wine into the pitcher and stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Chill: Allow the sangria to chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight. This waiting period lets the flavors meld together for a better taste.
  5. Before Serving: If desired, add sparkling water or soda to the sangria for a lighter version. Do this right before serving to maintain the fizz.
  6. Serve: Serve the sangria over ice, making sure to get some of the fruit into each glass.

Tips:

  • Wine Selection: While traditional sangria is made with red wine, feel free to experiment with white wine (Sangria Blanca) or even rosé for different flavors.
  • Fruit Choices: You can adjust the fruit based on what’s in season or your personal preferences. Berries, peaches, and pineapple make great additions.
  • Sweetness Adjustment: Taste your sangria before chilling. If you prefer it sweeter, you can add more sugar or a splash of sweet soda.

Enjoy your sangria responsibly!
