In 1962 Enzo Ferrari entrusted the engineer Giotto Bizzarrini with the task of updating and improving the successful project of the 250 GT short

wheelbase. Thus was born the Ferrari 250 GT called GTO (GT APPROVED which immediately confirmed and fueled the successes of the previous ber linetta version. Piero Drogo and Giotto Bizzarrini, on the basis of consolidated experiences in the first and second series GTOs, decided to try their hand at the latest evolution of the series, creating three examples of 250 GT Competizione Drogo, designed and developed by Piero Drogo’s Sport Cars in Modena. The solution adopted is particularly innovative, moving the engine and gearbox to a rearward, almost central position, to enhance the roadholding and handling qualities with a notable shortening of the transmission shaft
