🍞 Ingredients 🍞
12 slices white sandwich bread
1/2 pint (about 250 grams) fresh strawberries
4 ounces (113 grams) cream cheese
1/4 cup (30 grams) powdered sugar (icing sugar)
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) milk
3 teaspoons granulated sugar, divided
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
📝 Instructions 📝
Rinse, hull, and roughly chop the strawberries. Put them into a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Toss to coat.
In another bowl, soften the cream cheese in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Add in the powdered sugar and stir well to combine.
Flatten the bread slices with a rolling pin and trim off the crusts. Spread about a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture along one edge of the bread. Top with a spoonful of strawberries. Gently but tightly roll up the bread around the strawberries and cream cheese. Repeat with the remaining bread slices.
In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk, remaining 2 teaspoons of sugar, and cinnamon.
Preheat your griddle, nonstick pan, or electric griddle over medium heat. Add a bit of oil and a pat of butter to prevent sticking.
Coat each bread roll in the egg mixture and place them seam side down on the preheated surface. Cook until browned, then turn a quarter turn and continue cooking until all sides are nicely browned.
Remove the French toast rolls from the heat and transfer them to a plate. Dust with more powdered sugar, if desired, and top with the remaining strawberries.
